April Birchbox

Hello Beauties

I've only just subscribed to Birchbox, so I thought I'd show you what I got in this month's box.

If you follow me on Twitter, you will know that a while ago I asked people which beauty box subscription they would recommend. I got a lot of Glossybox and Birchbox recommendations and decided to go with the latter to see what they were like.

A subscription like this will get you a box of beauty samples every month for £10. This can include skincare, haircare, makeup and nail products aswell as some lifestyle products, so there's quite a range. When you sign up, online, you take a little quiz that makes up your profile and will help with receiving products that are most suited to you and what you want/need. It's a great way to introduce yourself to brands/products that you wouldn't normally think to try.

I'm not sure why, but everytime I've seen a blog post on Birchbox, I've assumed the box was quite large when, in fact, it's very small. I've heard that this is something new so that it can fit through your letterbox? Either way, I actually prefer the smaller box as it takes up less space in my room.

This month's box was named 'Royally Good' to coincide with the birth of the second Royal baby. There's a pink and blue box (for a princess/prince) in circulation and also includes a product from the brand Laura Mercier.

Inside the box, you get a card which gives details on what samples can be found inside your Birchbox, along with details and the price of the full-sized product.

The products, themselves, have come in a cloth, drawstring bag which I liked the look of. Inside my Birchbox. The product I was most disappointed with, was the Laura Mercier eye pencil. It came blunt and when I sharpened it to swatch, I found the pencil to be extremely hard and had no colour payoff. I'm not sure if I got a bad one or if this is the texture of the pencils. The LOLA nail polish is a beautiful coral colour that will look lovely around this time of the year and I intend to apply it on my fingernails soon. I've been using the Cleanse and Polish for years, but this size tube is perfect for taking on holiday.I have not, yet, tried the face mask, hair oil or balm but will update on those when I have. Look out for those on Twitter.

Thank you for reading
