Evening Skin Care Routine

Hello Beauties

I have been stuck with a cold for a few days now and so I thought I'd keep the post simple, by showing you the products I use, on my face, in the evenings.

I'd say I have normal/dry skin overall, but I do get the odd blemish here and there, for reference.

To remove all my makeup, I use Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. This is an oil that you apply to dry skin and it removes all traces of makeup. I use 1-2 pumps, depending on how much make up I've got on and then use a damp muslin cloth to take it off. I have used cleansing oils to remove my makeup for 4-5 years now and I love them. They manage to remove all makeup, even tough mascara (i.e. Benefit's They're Real) and leave the skin feeling clean and soft. I have, previously, used the Shu Uemura and Laura Mercier alternatives and while I loved them, the Body Shop one is a great dupe (and costs a lot less!). If you are thinking of trying a cleansing oil, I would definitely recommend this.

Every other day, I will then use my St.Ives Facial Scrub. The one I am currently using is the Invigorating one. It works well, but my favourite one is the Gentle one for Sensitive skin. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about these scrubs and I think a lot of people find them a little too harsh on the skin but for me they have worked really well. I would recommend the Gentle one because it makes my skin the softest out of them all.

Once a week (usually Sundays), I like to use a face mask. For the past 6-8 weeks, I have been using the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. This is a quick 10 minute mask, so doesn't take up too much waiting time and  can cause a little tingle feeling when applied. I have to say that I have never felt the tingling myself but I have read that quite a few have, so don't let this worry you. After wiping with a damp muslin cloth (included with the mask), I am left with brighter looking skin which is a definite plus during these colder months.

I then complete the routine with the Indeed Labs Retinol Resurface and Avene Ystheal Eye and Lip Contour. I have been using the Retinol Resurface for a few weeks now and while it's a nice serum/cream, I don't feel like it has done much for my skin at all so I am still on the hunt for a nice night cream. I have only been using the Eye and Lip contour cream for 2/3 weeks, so not too long to give a proper review, but I don't have anything bad to say about it so far.

Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to hear what you think and what you've been using.

Thank you for reading
Nikita x

  1. This is great. Last year, one of my new year's resolution was to establish a skin care routine but you know, I'm not good at that so I really admire people who can keep up with their skin care routine. I probably should start taking care of my skin or I might regret later.

It would be awesome if we could follow each other.

    Follow my adventures!

    1. hello :) i completely understand how hard it can be to keep up a routine, especially on lazy days or if you're getting home late. That's why I've kept my products to a minimum of only 4-5, makes it a lot easier and quicker. Once you start a routine, you'll notice the difference in your skin and you won't regret it.

Your blog looks amazing btw, we can definitely follow each other.

  2. I have heard good things about The Body Shop Cleansing oil but last time I tried an oil, I broke out really bad. Does it take time for your skin to get used to it? I really want to try it but I'm afraid it will make my skin worse. : (

    1. Hello, sorry for the late reply. I have tried a few cleansing oils and have not had break outs from any of them, so I can't really comment on that. If you have a spare mini bottle or container, I would say to go in store and ask them if there's a chance they could give you a little sample of the product before committing to buying the full size.

  3. Like your blog and your style of writing! You also have beautiful photos! Great job! I know that it requires so much time to update blog, but keep doing it!)
I’ll be happy to see you in my blog!)
